VZ 58 Tactical Sporter, and VZ 58 Military Sporter

The Czech SA Vz. 58 service rifle is now available from CZ-USA in 2 semi-automatic only versions, the VZ 58 Tactical Sporter, and the VZ 58 Military Sporter.

The Sa vz. 58 was developed by Ing. Jiri Cermak in 1956 and 1957, adopted by the Czechoslovakian army in 1958. and was produced by Ceska Zbrojovka in Uhersky Brod, Czechoslovakia until 1983. Approximately one million Sa vz. 58 rifles were produced during it's 20 year production run. As of 2007, it is still the standard issue service rifle in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The new Tactical and Military Sporter models are manufactured by combining original Sa vz. 58 components with a new semi-auto only milled receiver, a new trigger mechanism and new fire control parts.

While the appearance of the VZ 58 looks similar to the AK-47, it was inspired by the German StG 44 and initial development was actually based on the 7.92 x 33. Mechanically, the VZ 58 is completely different from the AK-47, and no parts including magazines are interchangeable.

Differences between the VZ 58 Sporter and the AK-47

  • The VZ 58 has a milled receiver, the AK-47 is stamped.
  • Even with the milled receiver it is almost one pound lighter than a stamped AK-47.
  • The bolt of the VZ 58 stays open after the last round in the magazine has been fired.
  • The VZ 58 has a more natural point of aim and is faster handling.
  • The safety is more ergonomic making a faster first shot possible with the VZ 58.
  • The ejection port is HUGE. There is no chance of an empty case getting stuck in the action of the VZ 58.
  • The VZ 58 gas piston can be removed or exchanged without tools.
  • The alloy magazine of the VZ 58 is half the weight of the steel AK-47 magazine. (.42 lb. vs. .84 lb.)
  • VZ 58 is easier to field strip.
  • The VZ 58 is striker fired unlike the hammer fired AK-47. This reduces the number of parts and possible points of failure.

Each Rifle is provided with the following accessories:

  • One 30 round magazine
  • Cleaning kit
  • VZ. 58 Sporter owner's manual and history on CD

CZ 453 Varmint, .17 HMR Now Available with Fluted Barrel.
Kansas City, KS – 2 July, 2007

CZ-USA is pleased to introduce the CZ 453 bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for .17 HMR with a varmint weight fluted barrel. The new fluted varmint weight barrel is stiffer than an unfluted barrel of the same weight. This helps enable the shooter to realize more accuracy potential per pound than unfluted rifles. The 453 takes the time tested platform of the CZ 452 and adds a fully adjustable, single set trigger system mechanically identical to that featured on the CZ 527 and CZ 550 centerfire rifles.

The CZ 453 retains all of the quality and accuracy of the 452. The CZ bolt-action rimfire rifles are manufactured from steel billets, not tubing or plastic. The barrels are hammer forged for accuracy and long life. The safety is located above the rear of the bolt and provides a positive firing pin block.

More on the single-set trigger:
The single-set trigger provides both a standard hunting and a light, target style trigger pull on the same rifle depending on the demands of the situation. By operating the rifle in the same manner as any other bolt-action rifle, the rifle functions with a normal hunting rifle trigger pull (adjustable down to 2 lbs). If you are shooting from the bench, or have time to set up for the shot, push the trigger forward until you feel and hear a click. Now your normal hunting rifle has a target trigger pull (adjustable to less than ½ lb).

The CZ 453 Varmint Fluted comes with a 5 round detachable magazine.

CZ 453 Varmint Fluted: Barrel Length: 20.9”; Weight: 6.5 lbs; LOP: 13.75”

MSRP for the CZ 453 Varmint Fluted is $620.00

CZ-USA Receives C-TPAT Customs Certification
Kansas City, Kansas - June 25, 2007 - CZ-USA a leading manufacturer and distributor of firearms, today announced that the company has met stringent guidelines to receive the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification from the U.S. Customs and Borders Protection, a division of the Department of Homeland Security. The C-TPAT program is a layered initiative where the U.S. government and private enterprises cooperate to enhance supply chain security as a whole by encouraging voluntary strengthening of individual company's security practices. These practices are vital in maintaining an overall efficient and secure supply chain and strengthened nation security.

To obtain its C-TPAT certification, CZ-USA completed a comprehensive assessment of its supply chain. This included documenting the organizations procedural, physical and personnel security, as well as communicating the C-TPAT security guidelines to all of its suppliers, carriers and forwarders.

Alice Poluchova, president of CZ-USA states, "In addition to supporting national security, this certification will reduce the wait times on out of stock items, allowing our customers to deliver in a timely manner."

Some of the major benefits of receiving C-TPAT certification include:

  • Fewer cargo border inspections of goods, leading to reduced border times
  • The assignment of an account representative from U.S. Customs and Border Protection to address questions
  • Access to U.S. Government anti-terrorism seminars, and the sharing of industry best practices

Additional information about C-TPAT Program can be found on the Unite States Customs and Border Protection website at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/commercial_enforcement/ctpat/
